Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy, and expensive and you probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Professional delivery and installation is available for every product we sell. We would be happy to coordinate delivery and installation for you.

WORST REFRIGERATOR EVER

Submitted by DisappointedByYou - 5/10/2019

6 years old and DEAD. Didn't even last half the life expectancy of any refrigerator. Purchased an extended warranty that ran out months before it died. But don't worry, Whirlpool only guarantees their refrigerators work for up to 2 years. Incredibly bad customer service. NEVER BUY ANYTHING WHIRLPOOL.

Did not last and no assistance from manufacturer

Submitted by 1SVUSER - 1/24/2019

After $2800 and only 6 years my freezer went out due to a failed evaporator. I've had 3 different repair techs out and all 3 day it's better to purchase a new unit. Called whirlpool hoping for any sort of assistance and they would barely even hear me out. I've always bought there products and been happy but after the very disappointing phone call to them I will be looking at other options.

Broke after 5 years

Submitted by Jg121992 - 8/30/2018

Moved into a new house and the refrigerator broke a month after I settled in. Repair man stated this is one of the worst models he sees with the issues it had and that he is constantly repairing it.

Nothing but problems

Submitted by tone999 - 7/3/2018

Bought this about 4 years ago. Cooling problem with the fridge after 1 year. Had to fight with Whirlpool to get them to cover repair costs. Problem with the ice maker 1 year later, with leaking water. By that time, we knew this was a piece of junk so we didn't ever bother. 1 year later, cooling problem with the freezer. Been mainly using our basement freezer ever since. Latest issue as of today, both the fridge and the freezer are warm. I was fooled once with Whirlpool but won't be fooled twice.

Ok, Whirlpool! You can do better!

Submitted by Robert_M - 1/25/2018

First off, Model# WRF989SDAH02 with Serial #: K41014252 I bought this refrigerator in August of 2014. I've no problems with it until October of 2017 when the evaporator fan went out. The evaporator fan- part #: W11032800 was replaced at a cost of $310.00.. In December 0f 2017, the ice maker refused to make ice. Due to the Holiday's I simply didn't have time to dedicate to getting it repaired just then. I relied on ice from the corner convenience store. A pain with 15 people around. This month, January, 2018, I called A&E Factory Service to come out and check the ice maker. Come to find out, it was not the ice maker at all. It was working fine, the cabinet was just not cold enough to make ice. After suspecting a leak in the cooling system (not the case), the Technician proved the problem as a bad three-way valve in the cooling system (part # WPW10443217), a bad circuit control board (part # WPW10589837), A bad refrigerant system filter/drier (part # WPW10143759) and a bad freezer compartment LED. The total bill for this second repair call will be $823.81. You can do better Whirlpool! I chose your product over LG or Samsung because it is made in America. After spending about $2000 for your refrigerator in 2014 and now spending over $1100 for repairs that a 3 1/2 year old refrigerator shouldn't need, I am glad I traded in my F150 on a Nissan that wasn't "made in America" ! Any way to submit a claim to Whirpool to recover at least part of my repair costs other than some type of Class Action remedy?

Unreliable components.

Submitted by F. Blondeau - 11/1/2017

Had to replace the compressor/condenser unit after less than 40 months. Continuous condensation inside the fridge (we are two in the house, no kids). Way more louder than any previour fridge I owned.

Awful experience

7/31/2017

Purchased August 2012 for a brand new kitchen. We've had several issues with the ice maker (been replaced twice), issues with the motherboard (replaced), issues with the sealing of the freezer (replaced), issues with the temperature in the freezer (seemed to fix itself after 2 weeks of weird noises) and now the freezer is out, the ice compartment can't maintain a temperature cold enough to keep ice frozen so water constantly runs out through the ice dispenser and into the floor. We are done - would love to drop this off on Whirlpool's front porch and leave it. Called and was told there were no "known" issues with the fridge - have they read the reviews?

Highly disappointed

Submitted by Proud of my new fridge - 3/7/2016

My beautiful new refrigerator was barely two months old, and the strip that forms the seal between the two doors broke. It can't be replaced, because it is broken on the door side, rather than the strip. Our only option was to have a new door ordered for installation. That could take 6-8 weeks. In the meantime, we have to manually maneuver the left door. Although I am terribly disappointed over this type of breakage, I want to emphasize that our appliance dealer has gone above and beyond to get this issue taken care of. Now, if we can only avoid breaking the strip off completely.

Problems with my refrigerator

1/10/2016

I bot this refrigerator 2 1/2 years ago. It has been the worst refrigerator I have ever owned. In the beginning I had many problems with the ice maker. Finally got that fixed. Now 2 years later the MAIN circuit breaker is out and the switch is out. My refrigerator will no longer work. I have been without a refrigerator for 3 weeks now trying to get some one to fix it or replace it.

awful fridge that breaks down every other month or so. Wasted a ton of $$ on it. Worked great until after the 1st year, so the warranty was gone, of course. Dont buy this fridge. It is beautiful, but a big hunk of trash.

Worst purchase ever!

Submitted by JA the unhappy - 9/3/2015

I'm on my second version of this refrigerator, as my first, after having 9 repairs in less than 18 months was deemed unrepairable. Whirlpool took the 1st frig back, and sent a supposed better version to my home in January. I've already had two breakdowns, the second now requiring a 6 hour repair. I called Whirlpool to see if I could get a different model of frig, as it seems very obvious that this style is not reliable. They refused, saying, apparently, this frig has to break down as many times as the first so that they can deem it unrepairable. I am sick of this poor quality frig, and will not purchase a Whirlpool product in the future.

Garbage

Submitted by Mona J - 8/5/2015

I purchased French door refrigerator WRF989SDAE00 3/2014 from BrandSmart to upgrade from a side by side Kenmore purchased in 2005 with my home (no mechanical issues with my Kenmore and thank goodness I kept it in the garage). Within 2 months the freezer would not stay cold enough to freeze ice cream and Whirlpool sent an authorized repair company (FLAMINGO APPLIANCE SERVICE) to replace the compressor. Well this became a reoccur theme every 2 - 2 months the refrigerator has an issue with maintaining temperatures cold enough to freeze ice (so puddles of water all over the floor from melted ice in the ice maker) and forget about buying ice cream. We have not purchased ice cream since the second time this piece of junk broke down. This is my FOURTH REPAIR (3 COMPRESSORS, 1 EVAPORATOR, AND, 1 CONTROL PANEL). All but the last repair occurred during the warranty period but Whirlpool refuses to replace the unit. Side note: I also purchased a Whirlpool dishwasher the same day as my refrigerator and it also stopped working within the same week of the first refrigerator repair. So far I have not had any issues with the dishwasher. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCES... NEVER!!!

Submitted by Diane the canvas girl - 7/13/2015

It certainly does the job. Not sure I like the French doors.in the way to put things on counter next to frig. Really like the automotive finish on the front. Freeze shelf squeaks when pulling out or pushing shut. Freezer Doesn't seem to hold that much.

Another unhappy consumer

Submitted by Orracle - 6/12/2015

Bought this fridge in April 2013. It sat at the store until the end of May when we got our house. Worked good until recently and is now not freezing and barely cooling. I bought a 4 year extended warranty at purchase luckily. Tech will be out in a couple days but I already did some troubleshooting at his request and most likely the fridge is shot. Tech said this model has a major problem with the "sealed" cooling system leaking Freon which is why I have a 2" circle of ice on the back wall of the freezer. Odds are I will have to fight with the store and/or Whirlpool to get a new one. I can honestly say I don't want another whirlpool at this point and should have bought another brand originally. I have owned Whirlpool appliances for many years and up until now they have been great. This one is only 2 years old and has had a catastrophic failure. Not what I expected when paying well over $2,000 for it.

The interior space is huge! Going from a side by side to this has been nothing short of happy. It's so open and bright, more LED lights than I've ever seen. I also really like the ice maker in the door which gives more space inside. Great design and features. If there was a downside it takes a little while to get used to all the different small noises it makes (warned about in the manual) but easily gotten used to. Nice for the price too.

Amazing value for the price

4/21/2015

My wife wanted to update the appliance color in our kitchen so we replaced our full French door with this model. It has greatly increased both the fridge and freezer storage space. We struggled to get boxes in either side of our previous unit but with model we can put anything from pizza boxes to fruit platters in it and can even customize the temperature in the pull outs. With the convenience of the lock button we can make sure our small children aren't making a mess of water and ice when we aren't looking.

I love the flexibility of this fridge, move this shelf, make that a half shelf, change the door shelf heights. The ice in the door is also a super space saving feature. The only thing I wish was the non-ice door to the fridge could be opened while you were filling your water glass. Overall I'd highly recommend it so far.

Submitted by DelightDee - 12/28/2014

I have really enjoyed my refrigerator except one thing. The spout releases water too close to the front of the unit. I think it should be centered. If you use a small glass, the water misses It Other than that, it is a wonderful appliance.
